Set an IT Goal Your Operations Team Can Recognize

“Improve our technology” leaves too much room for interpretation. “Reduce the time needed to prepare a new employee’s workstation” gives operations and IT a shared target.

Choose a business process that matters, measure its current condition, and identify the technology work that could improve it. Record who owns the change and when the result will be reviewed. Include the time employees spend on workarounds; those minutes may reveal a more useful priority than another equipment upgrade.

Keep the goal narrow enough to evaluate. A practical IT plan connects a defined business need to a responsible owner and evidence that the change helped.
